Installing an old version of an application, compatible with its hardware - iOS

You have an iPad or an iPhone a little old but still works and you want to install an application. The problem is that the latest versions of many applications require a recent version of iOS and will not want to install. The solution ? Install an older version of the application that works with your version of iOS. In our example, we will install the Spotify application on a first-generation iPad on iOS 5.1.1.

1-During all operations, your iPad should never be connected to your computer. On your computer, launch iTunes.



2-Connect with the same Apple account that you use on your iPad or iPhone.



3-Click in the Search box at the top right and click Store.



4-Enter the name of the application you want to install and validate.



5-Identify the application you are interested in and click Download or Get.



6-Login again to confirm the download.



7-The application is located in your Application Library on iTunes.



8-On your iPad or iPhone, open the App Store.



9-Locate the application you want to install.



10-Touch the Install button next to the application.



11-Enter the password for your Apple account.



12-A message tells you that the current version is not compatible with your version of iOS but you can still download the latest compatible version. Touch the Download button to confirm.



13-The application is installed.



14-It works perfectly. You may not have the latest application enhancements from the following updates.



15-Note that not all applications have versions compatible with older versions of iOS. If the application does not have a compatible version, you will not be able to download it.
