Windows Live Movie Maker, the successor to Microsoft Movie Maker is a free video editing software handy. Unfortunately, it is impossible to add videos or photos are from a network drive. We'll see how well this remedy annoying limitation.
If the Windows Live Movie Maker software (which you can download here), which lets you edit video in a few clicks is very easy to use, yet it does not allow to use the files on your network.
So when you want to create a montage using pictures or videos, it is necessary to use the "Add videos and photos."
is then possible to select the files of their choice by browsing his hard drive. It is also possible to browse the shared network drives, it remains impossible to import a file. An attempt inexorably display the following error message: "There can not be added directly into Movie Maker files from a shared network folder Copy the files to your computer and try again.."
The only apparent solution is to locally copy files of interest, which is not practical you will agree.
So we will make a small change in the registry in order to overcome this disadvantage.
Click the Start button and type regedit.
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows Live \ Movie Maker
In the left pane, create a new 32-bit DWORD value named AllowNetworkFiles and give it a value of 1.

Note that if you later want to undo the change, you can simply remove the AllowNetworkFiles value (or pass it to 0).
You can now add photos or videos from your shared disks in Windows Live Movie Maker!
