The .NET Framework in Windows includes a programming environment and a set of functions for running applications and software developed with Microsoft .NET with Visual Studio, for example. Much of Windows software requires this Framework to work.
To complicate matters, there are currently 8 versions of the .NET Framework (version 1.0 to 4.6) that are automatically updated by the Windows Update service. Each version can be used by a particular software and thus coexists with the others.
Now it happens that several versions installed mix the brushes and cause some hassle on your computer.
For example, does Windows Update provide updates to the .NET Framework and you can not install them? While you try to remove them, to download them again and then re-install them manually, Windows Update returns you every time a failure.
You have installed updates to the .NET Framework and the operation was successfully completed. However, each time you start your computer, Windows again offers you to install these updates and you then fall into a vicious circle.
You can not uninstall a .NET framework through the Control Panel.
To correct all problems related to the .NET framework, it is important to uninstall all the installed versions and to clean your computer of the different traces that could remain: keys and values in the registry, files on your hard disk, ..., for Reinstall the latest version properly. The uninstallation by the Control Panel, as you would for normal software is rather tedious, often generates errors and does not delete all elements of the framework.
The solution is to go through a Microsoft tool that will allow you to remove all the .net framework. This tool leaving some traces, you will have to intervene in the registry in order to remove the residual keys.
